Terry Bradshaw Talks About Phil Robertson on the Tonight Show

Excerpt from my book “Lord of the Wilderness, Phil Robertson”:    Phil received a football scholarship to Louisiana Tech University starting quarterback ahead of Hall of Fame Terry Bradshaw. Phil was drafted by the NFL after his junior year. Surprisingly enough, Phil turned down that offer because missing duck season was definitely not an option. Phil thought a lot of Terry Bradshaw and told him he had decided to step out which would enable him to step up. I’m going after the ducks full-time he told Bradshaw. I’d rather hunt ducks than have large violent men pay huge sums of money to stomp me in the dirt. I just think it would be less stressful. Bodily contact and violence of the game was not something he yearned to continue – it simply was not who he was.

With all of the publicity and controversy going on about A&E and Phil, I thought it was time to put all of that aside for something cheerful.

Phil, this is for you!

Phil & Bradshaw “Cool” Quarterbacks of our time

This video was published in October 2013.

Since “The 7th Day Return of the Lord” is a fan of “Duck Dynasty” and all of their family, we wanted to concentrate on what a great football player Phil was.  Not only is he a great Duck Hunter, Father, Provider and Servant of G-d – this guy would have made history if he had stayed in football.  All that to say, enjoy the video and hear what Terry Bradshaw has to say about the man.

Hard to believe that we’re looking at “Phil Robertson” without the beard…

A & E may try to break Phil’s spirit, but they are wasting their time.  I’m sure Phil is thinking right now, “Greater is He that is within me that is within the world.”  All this to say, you can’t keep a good man down.  I’ve said many times, Phil reminds me of John the Baptist  or even Paul the apostle.  The following scripture gives us a clue – could this be another John the Baptist?:

Matthew 3 (KJV)

3 In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,

2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

3 For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

4 And the same John had his raiment of camel’s hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.

5 Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,

6 And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.

When Terr mentioned that Phil came to work with “Duck Feathers” all over him, I couldn’t help but think of John the Baptist.  So Phil, I hope wherever you are you read this blog.   Your so famous, I doubt you will ever see it.

It is not important that we are on Phil’s side – what matters is that G-d is his reason for the season….. Faith, Family and Ducks!  (in that order)!!

We’re with you Phil….
