The new Movie “Son of God” without a doubt is one of the best movies so far on the life of Jesus. Now, Hollywood can make Jesus look like he is really walking on water. 10-20 years ago this wouldn’t have been possible but the world of technology has certainly come a long ways.
Producer Roma Downey who plays Jesus’ Mother also played “Touched by an Angel”. For almost a decade playing that role, she learned a lot about spiritual warfare. Three things she learned:
We shine his light but the darkness exists
The devil is real
When you are trying to do something good in the world, there will always be opposition.
Looks like Satan himself is trying to get into the picture. Roma mentioned that on the set they had a snake man and each day he would clear one or two snakes out of the location. But on the morning of the crucifixion scene we asked everyone we knew to pray. That morning when Roma got to the set, there had been forty snakes cleared around the foot of the Cross. It was obvious that Satan was behind the act of planting snakes within their path.
Supernatural Opposition
Roma has been very explicit about why “the devil” has been taken out of the movie “Son of God”. In the first movie “The Bible”, The actor that played the devil many said looked like President Obama. The media went crazy and ran with it, and it quickly became a global nuisance. A movie that was intended to be about Jesus was turning into a movie about Satan. Roman said, “I knew it was just like Satan the narcissist to make it all about him and creating division is what he is best at.
Roma stressed in an interview that this movie is going to focus on Jesus, the Son of God. The devil will get no more screen time and no more distractions.
Diogo Responds to Being Labeled #HotJesus
Diogo Morgado, who plays Jesus, has spoken out against the focus being placed on him personally. The social media is describing him as the “Hot Jesus” more than the “Son of God”. Diogo admitted he is flattered but insisted that anything that would distract from the movie’s core message would disappoint him greatly. It is obvious that Diogo wishes no glory for himself but that to present Jesus in such an appealing way that the message of love, hope and compassion will be felt by all to see the movie.
Morgado’s Revelation
In Morgado’s preparation to play the role as Jesus and by doing research it was only after his experience at the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem and he felt the significance and responsibility of his role as Jesus.
He said, “I saw this father and a young kid, they were praying And I stood for like two hours there. By the time I left, they were still praying.” “And I realized whatever I was about to do would be connecting more with that kid than his father. We live in a visual world now. Kids can learn a lot by seeing things rather than reading it.
Morgado later elaborated, explaining “There’s a lot of people out there. A lot of kids especially. They don’t know who exactly Jesus was. So, this is actually a tool that can teach these kids about why Jesus was who He was, and why the Bible is the most important book.”
“Son of God” premieres in theaters nationwide Feb. 28. It tells the story of Jesus through the eyes of an elderly St. John — the only apostle who did not meet a martyr’s fate — on the isle of Patmos
After Mel Gibson’s “The Passion of the Christ” made $612 million, observers expect to see more films about Jesus. Several upcoming Bible-related films are now in the pipeline.
Now, as we see World Events taking place that are becoming the Daily Headlines, we can truly see we are the generation of the Last Days. For the first time, the Words of Jesus Christ’s Warning to the Believers are coming alive in Matthew 24, and The Revelation of Jesus Christ given to the Apostle John by Almighty God the Father are unfolding in a prophesied sequence that should bring us all to our knees and into alignment with our Creator. It is why we at The 7th Day Return of the Lord feel it is so urgent to send the message out that the Kingdom God is at hand with the Return of our King very near.
