Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas left a two-day meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry in Paris last week fuming over Kerry’s proposals for a framework accord between Israel and the Palestinians, according to a Palestinian report.
The top American diplomat reportedly offered for Abbas to form a Palestinian capital in the neighborhood of Beit Hanina, not all of East Jerusalem, as the Palestinians have demanded.
Kerry also suggested that Israel keep 10 settlement blocs as part of any territorial exchange, according to Al Quds, the most widely read Palestinian daily, on Wednesday.
The Jordan Valley would not be part of a future Palestinian state, Palestinian sources told the paper, nor would there be an international force stationed there. And Kerry reportedly demanded that the Palestinians recognize Israel as the homeland of the Jewish people. More>
From B Harmon Contributor: It is about time that Kerry is doing something good for Israel and he could do a lot more. President Mahmoud Abbas describing Kerry’s idea “madness” doesn’t surprise me in the least. If the Palestinians had it their way, there would be no Israel and Kerry offering Beit Hanina as the capital is not what the President had in mind. Why do the Palestinians want Jerusalem so bad? Jerusalem is G-d’s Masterpiece – His place to return – the exact center of the earth. To interrupt his plans would greatly please Allah and give the Palestinians a feeling of power.
When you look at the map to the left, you will see that what is known as the “West Bank” and this is what the Palestinians want. If you look at the tiny nation of Israel in comparison to the vastness of the land that surrounds it, Israel is maybe 3/10 of one percent of the land mass of the entire Middle East.
The enormous amount of land in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria and Iraq. The people of these nations have so much land and yet they want to crowd all of the Palestinian people into this tiny little area that will not support them.
The bottom line is: If the United States plays a role in ripping half of Jerusalem from Israel and giving it to Yasser Arafat, a group of terrorists, we are going to see the wrath of G-d fall on the US and its not going to be pretty. If we thought the hurricanes and tornadoes have been bad so far, we are in for a surprise if we turn our back on G-d’s people and land.
This is Jerusalem; I have set her at the center of the nations, with lands around her (Ezekiel 5:5)
Has Kerry had a change of heart in demanding Abbas to officially recognize Israel as Jewish state? Well its better news than what we’ve had although it is not the first time we’ve offered only part of East Jerusalem for the Palestinian capital. Previously, Abu Dis was offered but quickly rejected.
Glad to hear that the Jordan Valley would not be part of a future Palestinian state but than again, how could it be as the Jordan Valley cuts through the heart of Israel. Of course, for Bible-believers, there is a deeper aspect to the argument: the Jordan Valley is very clearly part of the land promised to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob as a perpetual possession. Nevertheless, Israeli leaders insist they must also be able to successfully argue their claims from a legal and historical point of view.
When Israel was about to invade the Promised Land, G-d reiterated a description of the land in Joshua 1:4: 4 Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates—all the Hittite country—to the Mediterranean Sea in the west.
Keeping Genesis 15:18 in mind, the land G-d gave Israel included everything from the Nile river in Egypt to Lebanon, North to South, and everything from the Mediterranean Sea to the Euphrates River, West to East. Thus, the Land that G-d gave to Israel is all of the land modern Israel currently possesses, plus all of the land of the Palestinians which include the West Bank and Gaza, plus parts of Egypt and Syria, all of Jordan and some of Saudi Arabia and Iraq. Today, Israel possesses only a fraction of the land that G-d promised to them.
