The Bible – The Inspired Word of G-d

The Apostle Paul, wrote: “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Today, there is a growing resistance to the TRUTH.  This TRUTH I speak of is the “Holy Bible”.  This Bible I am referring to is G-d’s love letter to all of His creation.  Keep in mind:

We are not human beings having a spiritual experience.  We are spiritual beings having a human experience.

PIERRE TEILHARD DE CHARDIN

The word Bible is from the root word “biblios” which is Greek for “little books”.

It contains 66 books and was written by 40 authors. The books we are familiar with
were accepted by the early church but for centuries were not available to the
public mostly because there were only hand copied ones available.

The oldest writings of the Bible go back more than 3,000 years. Available for print
in the 16th century a person had to be wealthy to own even one page of the book.
During the 1300’s a man by the name of John Wycliffe began translating parts of the
bible into the English language so it would be available to people like you and I.

Gutenberg Bible of the New York Public Library. Bought by James Lenox in 1847, it was the first copy to come to the United States.

There was a time that people would pay a high price just to read a few of the

Bible’s pages. Some gave a load of hay for a few chapters of the Apostle Paul or
of the Apostle James.

Many people including Clergy knew nothing of the Bible or its content. Believe it
or not, in 1408 an English bishop forbade anyone to translate or even to read a
version of the Bible in part or in its entirety without the approval of the
minister. Years later a man by the name of William Tyndale translated the Bible
further with hopes of spreading it to the whole world only to be burned at the
stake for doing so. They condemned him as a heretic.

You see my friends, that very Bible you have in your possession, was made possible
by the sacrifice of many lives. And yet, many today take it for granted.

FAMOUS MEN HAD GREAT RESPECT FOR THE BIBLE

abraham lincolnSeveral American presidents have affirmed their confidence in the Bible. Abraham
Lincoln stated: “I believe the Bible is the best book God has ever given to man.
All the good from the Savior of the world is communicated to us through this book.”

john quincy adamsJohn Quincy Adams said, “So great is my veneration of the Bible that the earlier my
children begin to read it the more confident will be my hope that they will prove
useful citizens of their country.”

William Gladstone, famous 19th-century British prime minister, said: “I have known
95 of the world’s great men in my time, and of these, 87 were followers of the
Bible. The Bible is stamped with a Specialty of Origin, and an immeasurable
distance separates it from all its competitors.”

THE VALIDITY OF THE BIBLE

The Bible is G-d’s love letter to all of His children communicated by men as they were moved by G-d Himself. It gives us purpose and meaning for life. The Bible explains our lives in divine way that is beyond question. It is profound, inspired, holy, faultless and true. It prepares us for life, it transform lives, and is the pathway to eternity.

It has been evaluated, studied and examined by the people who had lived when Jesus lived, and could verify the accuracy of those stories. That within itself means a lot. It is the only book in history that has a 100% rate of accuracy and cannot be proven wrong.
The Bible’s promises about the future are astounding – some promises (prophecy) fulfilled and some yet to be fulfilled.

It warns of persecution and of the consequences of being separated from G-d the Father.   No Father would leave His children in darkness but rather show them the way back to eternity.   He loves us – the Bible tells us so.

70 scribes, with expert precision, reviewed the book over and over again until it
was perfect. The amazing fact is that their methods resulted in such an accurate
reproduction of scripture that only one error for every fifteen hundred words
occurred and these errors were so slight that they never affected the content.

In a recent survey, 88 percent of the respondents said they own a Bible, 80 percent
think the Bible is sacred, 61 percent wish they read the Bible more, and the
average household has 4.4 Bibles. Of those that do read the Bible, 57 percent read
their Bibles four times a year while 26 percent read their Bibles on a regular
basis which is four or more times a week.
