Darren Aronofsky’s ‘Noah’ Attracts Controversy-The Good and the Bad

1 Peter 3:18-22

For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit, in which He went and proclaimed to the spirits in prison, because they formerly did not obey, when God’s patience waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through water.

There has been no shortage of controversy surrounding the Movie “Noah” and there are some Christians that feel it is not in line with Bible scripture. “Noah” is played by Russell Crowe and directed by Darren Aronofsky who was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York.

“Noah” scheduled for US release on March 28 has become a target by some Christian organizations. The National Religious Broadcasters threatened to boycott the film unless Paramount issued a disclaimer stating that the movie isn’t a literal interpretation of the Genesis story. Finally under pressure, Paramount has altered its advertising to say the movie was “inspired” by the Bible story and is not the Bible story. Very well put I think.

The film has prompted officials in Qatar, Bahrain and the united Arab Emirates to announce it won’t be shown in their theaters because Muslims believe it’s wrong to depict a prophet.

While “Noah” makes no claims to be an inerrant retelling of the Scripture, it is a great tool to draw genuine intrigue in what the Bible does say. “Noah” very clearly points us to the major truths of G-d and the consequences of a fallen mankind. All is in the context of the early interaction between G-d and man and I see no problem with that.

We think nothing of allowing our children to see movies such as “Braveheart”, “Gladiator,” “Star Wars”, and the “Lord of the Rings” and these movies are not as related to the Bible that Noah is. Lots of different opinions are coming in and one being Glen Beck who says that “Noah” contains dangerous disinformation.

Video on Glen Beck:

IS IT BETTER TO STIMULATE OUR YOUTH TO THINKING ABOUT G-D
EVEN IF IT IS NOT EXACTLY LIKE THE SCRIPTURE
OR
NOT TO STIMULATE THEIR THINKING AT ALL, THUS DISCOURAGE
THEIR DESIRE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THEIR CREATOR?
