COULD PHIL ROBERTSON BE OUR MODERN DAY “JOHN THE BAPTIST”?

MODERN DAY “JOHN THE BAPTIST” – HE VERY WELL COULD BE – THINK ABOUT IT!

Phil Robertson’s dismissal from the A&E Network caused quite a stir.  Roberston had responded to critics who had slammed him for very graphic statements he made about his preference for heterosexual sex over homosexual sex.

Phil quoted:

“I myself am a product of the 60s; I centered my life around sex, drugs and rock and roll until I hit rock bottom and accepted Jesus as my Savior,” he said in a statement sent to  FOX411.

“My mission today is to go forth and tell people about why I follow Christ and also what the Bible teaches, and part of that teaching is that women and men are meant to be together.

“However, I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity. We would all be better off if we loved God and loved each other.”

I guess you all know by now that all has been forgiven and that Phil is back on the show after A&E asked him to return.  I won’t get into all of that but I do know that Phil is not interested in the society thing and the money.  He did say that he was making it find before A&E and he could do it again.  To Phil, his ministry is far more important than pleasing multitude of those that refuse to accept the teachings of the Bible.

OUR MODERN DAY JOHN THE BAPTIST?

I think that Phil Robertson from Duck Dynasty is our modern day “John the Baptist”  In many respects.  What you see is what you get when you talk to Phil and he sure doesn’t mind quoting scripture from the Bible.  He is known for baptizing many in the river close to his home place in Louisiana so it is obvious that Baptism to Phil is critical step and requirement for attaining Salvation.  What better way for a man to save souls for the LORD.  This most assuredly beats what a lot of Christians spend their time doing.

SENT BY G-D

John the Baptist’s conception was no doubt miraculous and it was foretold that he would be filled with the Spirit of G-d even while in his Mother’s womb.  It was also foretold that he would be raised under the strict code of the Nazirite (Numbers 6:1-21). Truly he came for one purpose and that was to prepare the way for his Redeemer at all costs.

The importance of John in the divine scheme of things probably is summed up best in the testimony of Jesus himself:

Matthew 11:11 (NIV)

11 Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet whoever is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

Duck Dynasty Season 3A WALKING SERMON

The first thing about John the Baptist is that he was not a reed shaken with the wind.  Not at all like most people today that bend with the wind of society. He was a self made man not at all conforming to the rules of society nor the world. He might have come across rather ragged and unpolished but he certainly had no problem baptizing many who came to hear him preach. His influence was phenomenal and hundreds if not thousands flocked to this less than ordinary man of G-d.

CONSIDERED A RECLUSE BY MANY

John was anything but a man in soft clothing.  As a matter of fact to some, he might have come across a wild man as his clothing was made out of camel’s hair and a black leather belt around his waist.  He was definitely a strange sort of guy that lived in the desert wilderness eating locusts and wild honey. He was a man with a mission to baptize, preach and prepare the way of the LORD Christ (Jn. 1:7-8). His influence was phenomenal and hundreds sought him for the purpose of immersion and to hear his powerful message.

From the Prologue of Phil Robertson’s (Duck Commander) book
“Happy, Happy, Happy”

Phil writes: “For the life of me, I can’t figure out why people are so attracted to our family.  Maybe it’s because we live our lives like people really want to live, how we all used to live before everything got so busy, busy, busy.”
